CDH International Telethon on April 19th
On CDH Awareness Day, April 19th, CDH International interviewed families, researchers, doctors and volunteers as they all shared stories, tears and trials as we raised awareness and money for Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia via live video on Facebook. We had guests live from around the globe, truly an international day of CDH Awarneess. The goal was to reach $50,000 over 15 hours during a live Facebook telethon. Donors were able to make a donation by calling in, donating on any of the member's Facebook telethon fundraisers or directly on the website. As the telethon closed, CDH International surpassed the goal bringing in $51,388. This number is on the rise, where the final total will be announced on April 30th. Facebook fundraisers for the telethon are still ongoing and the charity waits for any checks arriving by mail.
The world was able to tune in for 15 hours and watch and hear families share their stories, doctors talked about what they are doing for CDH families, and researchers talked about their research and how it is affecting the CDH community. We heard from volunteers and why it is so important to donate and raise awareness. Lots of surprises happened throughout the day as celebrities helped the charity with their guest appearances. The following celebrities helped bring much needed awareness to CDH, Justin Coleman, Lance Moore, Chase d’Arnaud, Ian McElhinney, Tawny Kitaen, Sonja Morgan, William Wisher, Kate Linder, Kim Alexis, Kevin Sorbo, David DeLuise, Lil Scrappy, Aaron Watson, Chris Weidman, Dean Cain, Tori Spelling, Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Drew Seeley, Chumlee, Milena Roucka, Hilary Shepard, Matty Mullins, Countess Luann de Lesseps, Jeff Foxworthy, Michael Campion, Thaddeus Lewis, Marla Maples, Tim Murphy, Action Jaxon, Paul Amos, Juliet Simms, Bob “The Blade” Robinson, Kristy Swanson, Chris Rankin, and Lee Montgomery. We want to say thank you so much to the CDH community and celebrities for a very successful telethon.
